THE DESERT HEALS

The desert heals me.

Other than traveling for work, I knew this would be my last big hurrah in southern Utah for a while and it was SUCH a treat. The temperatures were PERFECT. The desert was ALIVE with so many colorful flowers from all of the winter moisture. The globemallows were abundant and their bold orange color was the perfect contrast for the cobalt skies.

I have an intense love and adoration for a sweet, sweet spot in the Southwestern Utah desert. It’s a large area of BLM land with trails woven all throughout the mesas and canyons. It’s a place where I can access enough cell service to be productive with my work. I can step outside of my bus and hike for miles and miles in any direction. I am a quick 30 minute drive down into a small town for most of my needs and any social interaction I’m craving. It’s a little slice of my version of heaven.

Tucked between making memories with my son and friends, and working with some incredible clients, I experienced a two week period of intense solitude and healing that I needed more than I even recognized. I began to practice putting into place the healthy boundaries that my body and soul have been begging for most of my life, and creating such a wonderful little oasis for myself in the process. I hiked for miles. I read. I painted. I napped. I danced. I worked in a way that honored a healthy balance. I reminded myself that I am worthy of all of this and more.

If you’re feeling like you’ve hit a wall, be gentle with yourself and remember that YOU are worthy of a life well lived, my friends. You deserve to get reacquainted with yourself in intimate ways that you may have forgotten about. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to just BE.
